The attempt happened at approximately 3:20 p.m. as a man approached a fourth-grade boy while the boy was on the school’s playground.  The boy was able to run away.

The man attempted to lure the boy by saying that he was there to take the boy home as the boy’s mother asked him to do so as she was sleeping.

According to Chicago Police, the alleged assailant is described as being black, 45-55 years old, 5’6″ tall with a thin build.  His hair is short.  During the child kindnapping attempt he wore blue jeans, a black T-shirt, flip-flop sandals and a blue Cubs baseball hat.

These two most recent reports of attempted child abductions happened on Tuesday, May 7, and Wednesday, May 8.

In the May 7 incident, a girl alleges that she was approached at approximately 3:30 p.m. by a man driving nearing the Highwood Ballpark, at Western and Llewellyn Avenues.  The man asked her if she wanted a ride; the girl refused.

This man is described as white, with fair skin, and in his late 40s with gray hair, a medium build.  He was wearing sunglasses.  He was driving a newer model dark green SUV equipped with large tires.

In the May 8 child abduction attempt involving another child, a girl was approached by a woman driving a white minivan.  The woman asked the girl if she wanted a ride.

The woman allegedly was sitting at the bus stop when a man grabbed her by the throat.  The man then forced her to walk a few blocks away, to the 1500 block of West Highland Avenue, where he sexually assaulted her on a stairwell.

The alleged assailant has been described by Chicago Police as black, with a medium complexion; 5’8″, and weighing 300 lbs.  He was wearing a white striped polo shirt and blue jeans at the time of the attack.

Chicago Police continue to investigate.

The alleged incident involved a woman who drove a vehicle, asking a 13-year-old girl if she wanted a ride home from school.

Then, according to an excerpt from the Highland Park & Deerfield TribLocal article of May 3, titled “Deerfield girl, 13, told police that woman tried to lure her” :

She refused and the driver responded that she “come and play, it will be fun,” according to a crime alert that was sent to parents of Lake Forest high School students, which Keane confirmed. After another refusal, the driver said, “I insist, get in the car,” but the girl said no a third time and the vehicle drove away, Keane confirmed.

The driver of the vehicle was described as either white or possibly Hispanic, around 35 years of age, and heavy-set.  The vehicle she was driving was described as “boxy” — possibly a Jeep Wrangler — that was either silver or gray.

Both alleged incidents happened during gynecological exams.

The doctor, who was a resident at Stroger Hospital during the alleged assaults, is Luygy Zavaleta Jara, 28.

In the first incident in March, Jara allegedly sexually assaulted a patient during a gynecological exam.  In a second incident, also in March, Jara allegedly exposed himself to a second patient, also during an exam, and allegedly assaulted her.

Stroger Hospital suspended him in late March and fired him on April 19.  An arrest warrant has been issued, but Jara has not been located.

According to the Cook County Sheriff Office, a man tried to abduct a 12-year-old girl by grabbing her and dragging her into a wooded area.  The girl had been walking along a path.

The girl at first kicked and screamed, and when the man tried to cover her mouth with his hand, the girl bit him.  The girl was then able to escape.

There was an extensive search of the area by law enforcement, including the use of helicopter and dogs.  However, no alleged assailant was found.

Both of the alleged child abduction attempts involved a man asking children if they wanted a ride home.

The attempts involved an 8-year-old boy and 7-year-old girl.

The latest incident involved the boy, a third-grader, who was approached on Wednesday at 3:25 p.m. by a man in front of the school on Prairie Avenue..  The man is said to have come within 2 feet of the boy, asking if he wanted a ride home.   The boy ran to his house.

The previous incident happened on Monday at approximately 4:30 p.m., and involved a man matching the same description, this time approaching a girl who was in the third grade.   This alleged incident also happened in front of the school.  In this incident, the girl ran into the school.
