Child Luring Attempt Made In Chicago’s South Loop

There was a child-luring attempt involving a 12-year-old girl made on August 23 in Chicago’s South Loop.

An excerpt from the August 29 Chicago Tribune article titled “Cops release sketch of man who approached girl going to school” :

The man approached the girl as she walked to school in the 2600 block of South Indiana Avenue at about 7:15 a.m. on Aug. 23, repeatedly blocking her path as she tried to walk around him, police said in a community alert.

The girl was able to escape without injury.

Police provided a description of the man, with the following characteristics:

A white male, approximately 54 years old, 5’8″ tall, with weight of approximately 150 lbs.  He has short hair and brown eyes, with a gray beard.  The man was wearing a blue Cubs hat and a dark blue t-shirt with blue jeans.

Apparent Child Abduction Attempt At Chicago’s Daley Plaza

There was an attempted child abduction at Chicago’s Daley Plaza on Saturday night, August 25.

A man, woman and their two daughters were standing in Daley Plaza around 9:30 p.m., when a man approached them and grabbed the arm of their 2-year-old girl while taking a swing at the husband.

After an altercation, the assailant left the scene, and was later apprehended by Chicago Police after being chased by the father, Kelly Davis.

The alleged assailant is James Gates, 55, of Chicago.

Woman Sexually Assaulted In Chicago’s Bronzeville Neighborhood

There was a robbery and sexual assault in the Bronzeville neighborhood of Chicago early this morning.  The incident happened in a parking lot in the 4700 block of South Vincennes Avenue.

A woman, reported to be 25 years old, was getting out of her car when at approximately 12:45 a.m. when a man approached her.

The man had a black handgun and announced he was robbing her.  The man proceeded to rob and then sexually assault the woman in the parking lot.

According to police, the alleged assailant was described as a black male, age 20-35, approximately 6’00″, with a thin build and weight estimated at 150 lbs.  The man had a dark complexion and had either a goatee or mustache.

During the attack, the man wore a face mask as well as a dark gray, hooded jacket and blue jeans.

Child Luring Attempt Made In Northfield, Illinois

On Friday, August 24, there was an attempt made by a couple in a car to lure a 13-year-old girl into their car in Northfield, Illinois.

The attempt was made at approximately 12:50 p.m., according to Northfield Police.

The girl was walking south on Riverside Drive, at Stockton Drive, when a man and woman in a silver car approached her.  The man, in the passenger’s seat, opened the car door, gestured for the girl to come into the car, and said “Come, come here, come!”

The girl ran from the vehicle.

The man was described as approximately 45 years old, of average height and build.  He is said to have worn a red polo shirt.  He spoke with a European accent.
