Man Charged With Sexual Abuse Of Teenage Girl In Naperville, Illinois

Today, a prosecutor told of an incident in which a New York man sexually abused the daughter of a Naperville, Illinois woman he was dating, and then punched the girl’s mother when she confronted him over the alleged act.

The man, Darren J. Kirkland, of Endicott, New York, had travelled to Naperville Saturday after meeting the woman online.  After he had stayed at the woman’s house for a couple of days, he approached the woman’s 16-year-old daughter in the kitchen of the house as she prepared for school.  He then tried to kiss her neck and reach under her clothes, according to Louisa Nuckolls, an Assitant State’s Attorney.

Once the girl’s mother learned of the incident, she confronted Kirkland, and, according to the charges, he responded by punching the mother several times.

Kirkland has been charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse and domestic battery.

Man Charged For Rape In Chicago’s Bucktown Neighborhood

A man has been charged in the alleged sexual assault of a woman in Chicago’s Bucktown neighborhood.  He is being held on $750,000 bond.

Details on the incident are somewhat limited and vary somewhat among news sources.  However, here are various facets that are being widely reported:

According to prosecutors, the attack took place inside an apartment on West St. Paul.  The sexual assault included the woman being raped several times, and choked until she was unconscious.

The man charged with criminal sexual assault and unlawful restraint was Michael Giffin, 25, of Chicago.

This alleged assault happened Saturday night, after the alleged victim, a 26-year-old woman, met Giffin at a bar.  They shared a cab after leaving the bar, and she invited him into her apartment for a drink.  After the woman indicated she was tired, Giffin then assaulted her and threatened to kill her.

After the assault, the woman ran into the hallway for help, but Giffin dragged her back into the apartment, at which time he choked her until she was unconscious.  Neighbors called police when they heard the woman’s screams; police responded at 4:15 a.m. Sunday.

According to authorities, the woman was treated for minor injuries, including bruises, scrapes and a sprained wrist, at a nearby hospital and released.
